What is Street Tech?
- Street Tech is a nonprofit program offering
low-cost computer training and job placement
for deserving adults (ages 18 and up) from disadvantaged
communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Street
Tech students undergo an intensive 3-6 month

for 9-15 hours per week, after which they are
transitioned into entry-level computer technician,
help desk, and network administration jobs.
How does Street Tech work?
- Street Tech is building a bridge: Good jobs
for people who need them - trained people for
companies who need them.
- Program participants spend 9-15 hours a week
in the classroom learning basic PC skills and
then are certified as computer technicians (A+
or MCP certification).
- They also undergo 3 hours of life skill and
job preparation skills per week.
- Team building activities, mentorships with
IT professionals, and fieldtrips to a variety
of local hi-tech firms are key components of
the program.
- During the final months of the program, students
are enrolled in internships with local businesses,
participate in computer professional certification
tests, and are assisted in job placement. Street
